The state of Virginia allows its notaries that have applied to also be electronic notaries to perform remote notarizations as long as they follow and meet the state's requirements.

A Virginia notary can remotely notarize a document for anyone inside or outside the state as long as the participant(s) passes the state required ID verification process.

There are providers that the notary can work with to remotely notarize documents, but only DocVerify allows the notary legally perform remote notarial acts, and the notary gets to keep most of their fees they collect.
