As more remote notary providers enter the sector, more and more of them are forcing their notaries to sign non-compete agreement that will prevent that notary from using another vendor for a year or maybe up to three years paralyzing and preventing the notary from being able to earn a living.

In many states, non-competes are not legal, and can be easily challenged, but if the provider is forcing a notary to sign one that should be a big red flag that the notary may not want to work with that company.
