Remote notarizations or web cam notarial acts go a step further than electronic notarizations.

With remote notarizations the notary can physically be in one location, and the participants can be in other locations, and the entire notarial act is done via a web cam; whereas, with e-notarizations physical presence is still required. Most states require some form of ID verification, and also require that certain parts of the session get recorded and stored for a certain amount of time.
